Music City’s go-to destination for Abruzzese-inspired Italian fare, Trattoria Il Mulino, invites guests to an intimate wine pairing dinner on Wednesday, Sept. 21 featuring Jackson Family Wines.
Trattoria Il Mulino’s tasting dinner welcomes a new face with Sommelier Rob Guimaraes. Guimaraes joined the restaurant in July 2016 as its beverage manager and sommelier. He is a Certified Sommelier from the Court of Master Sommeliers as well as a Certified Specialist of Wine from the Society of Wine Educators. Trattoria Il Mulino recently received the Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator, the world’s leading authority on wine.
“We are very excited to present a four-course seasonal menu paired with beautiful Jackson Family Wines,” says Rinaldo Mataj, general manager at Trattoria Il Mulino.
Executive chef Tom Cook’s exquisite dishes begin with a baked goat cheese polenta soufflé with slow-roasted Roma tomatoes, Benton’s bacon, and wild mushrooms paired with a 2013 Murphy Goode Fumé Blanc. The second course features a granny smith apple salad with endive, spiced pumpkin seeds, candied pecans, Craisins, and gorgonzola cheese paired with a 2013 La Crema Pinot Gris. Guests will be delighted with the trio of duck entrée, made with foie gras Amarena cherries, fig marmalade, and mascarpone risotto paired with a 2011 Benvolio, Rosso. The evening finishes on a sweet note with a beautiful almond pear tarte made with cinnamon crumble, vanilla bean crème, anglaise, and local wildflower honey and an Asti Spumante from Piedmont, Italy.
The Sept. 21 dinner is from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. located in one of Trattoria Il Mulino’s private dining areas. Representatives from Lipman Brothers will be on hand to discuss the wines and their characteristics. Tickets are $80 per person, inclusive of wine pairings and complementary valet.
